Planned bus rapid transit routes on Geary Boulevard and Van Ness Avenue. The city's first "full" BRT lines (each is likely to feature curb-separated bus lanes in the median) won't open for another five years or so; on Geary, locations of stops haven't even been set yet (although existing limited stops, shown here, are the likeliest locations). There are few route-specific maps in San Francisco (the Muni Metro's T-Third features simple line maps at stops, though not on vehicles), but as it will be important to "introduce" the new mode to San Franciscans through extensive marketing, rapid bus maps should be prominently displayed both at stops and on vehicles. The maps below, with their combination of schematic simplicity and important information about destinations and connecting routes, seek to strike a balance.
